Centaur Consult: Case Study
Liberalitas
The owner of an antiquities business had
invested in a large e-commerce website, but the results were not
as desired and business was slow. He came to us with expertise
in his own area of business and had very definite ideas about
how he wanted to present his business. The ability to sell on
the internet was imperative.
Firstly we looked at competitors and found
that there were very few successful online sellers of similar
materials. Market analysis and customer opinions were gauged and
we concluded that the risk element and risk of being sold forgeries
from a wesite was probably the reason behind potential customers'
reluctance to buy.
One of the key things we picked up on was
that we would like to show potential customers some of the comments
that the client's previous customers had made. This is possible
on a standard website, but again the credibility of the comments
comes into question. For this reason we narrowed our focus to
the eBay system, where customers get a chance to leave comments
on every transaction made.
Our client was interested in pursuing this
avenue so we constructed a fully customised eBay shop, which would
encompass all aspects of the business. We also made a new corporate
identity for the company – something which had been lacking
in the past.
We continue to manage and evolve the
Liberalitas eBay shop and our client has had great success on
the new sales platform. So much so that he has closed the original
website in favour of the eBay shop.
